Allium senescens, known as German garlic, has thin green blades that grow vertically with a little bit of a twist, forming a clump like a miniature daylily. In late summer each clump is covered with lavender, pom-pom shaped blooms.

Allium senescens var. 'Glaucum', curly allium, has very attractive foliage made up of fine blue-gray blades that form a swirling pattern. In late summer each clump is covered with lavender blooms and they make an excellent border plant in the hot sunny garden.
