Asplenium scolopendrium - Hart's-tongue fern

Hart's-tongue fern has upright and arching, leathery and strap-like, glossy green, evergreen fronds that can grow up to 3" wide. It prefers drier, alkaline soil but is also fairly adaptable and can tolerate damp soils so long as the crowns are set at soil level. Use it as a vertical accent with hostas and other shade loving plants or plant a group between rocks and crevices for a natural look in the woodland garden.

Height: 16" Spacing: 15 - 18" apart
Light:  Dappled shade to full shade Soil:  Average to humus-rich, moist but sharply draining
pH:  Neutral to alkaline Zones:  4 - 10
