When you need a hosta- you need it for real- no question here

When you have a tiny garden it is easy to confuse the factual need of a hosta with lack of space

Do not mix up those 2 issues... they are not the same

If getting a bigger garden is out of the question for the momenthere is a

What to do

:D Order the hostas you need... forget all about space

:D Pot them up when they arrive

:D When your garden hostas are totally unfurled, get a showel and walk the garden- look closely at each hosta

:D Decide wich hostas are the most lovely- call them 1

:D Count the rest of them

:D Divide the number with 2

:D If the number is uneven, deside wich group have to be the biggest

:D Dig up the half of every hosta in group 2

:) Dig up all hostas in group 3

:D Trade al dug up hostas or give them away

:D Now you have space for the potted hostas

:D You even have space next year too

Last 2 arent tested yet, but hope they work

That is the best reasoned argument I've heard yet, Pia!! :P

I started doing the giving away of some of the #3 hostas last year. More drastic measures still had to be taken. :o [Walls] And other theories of de-acquisition are being contemplated as well.
