Tracking Programs Used?

Do anyone here keep track of their seedlings on a program to help keep this all straight? If so which one, please give some pointers.

Seedling tracking

Postby thehostagourmet » Mar 19, 2007 1:10 pm

I finally broke down this year and put my seedlings from 2000 to the present into Excel. (I'm in the software business. Shoemaker's kids go shoeless.) Columns for pod and pollen parents, # of seeds sown, germinated, kept, and comments. I'm thinking of adding grandparents.

Sorting on the pod or pollen parent column can quickly show which plants are successful parents.

Thank George! Still thinking about this. I have a program for the Brugs, maybe I should think about this for the other plants. :???:

George shared his system for recording crosses and seedlings in his Hosta College class and I am probably going to do the same.

He has a really good system - at least for someone with my sized brain, I could comprehend it easily so that works!

I have mine on Microsoft Works Database. Nothing fancy, Plant Name, Where purchased, Year Purchased, Mature Size, Size by Year, Comments, Shade or Sun. You get the idea, Just something to organize and keep track of where and when I put them in. Works for me, I can pull out lists and rearrange them at will.
