I think hostas go with anything. Here are some pictures with bulbs, annuals, perennials and bushes.

I've always had a thing for native wildflowers when paired with hostas.

Those are some beautiful combos...I wish I had a touch more sun so that I could throw some more flowery things into my beds. This is my best combination, I think...until Love Pat gets too big, anyway. I'm not so good at the planning of this stuff. If only I could get that astilbe to bloom all season!
