Midwest Convention Garden #5

Postby renaldo75 » Dec 13, 2009 3:34 pm

This is the garden of Gary & Deb Guardia. Deb is the gardener in the family and she has done some very nice things. For a lot of reasons, this was my favorite garden. I told Marlys & Connie more than once: "I could do this garden." It had a lot of neat elements - wonderful plant selections & combinations, color contrasts - both blended and combinations that really made everything 'POP'!! I like elegant and I thought this garden really was. It all blended together seamlessly.

Again I wish I had taken the time to get names of several of the hostas & conifers - particularly the conifer in the first pic. There were some nicely grown plants in Deb's garden including one of the fullest Tattoos I've seen. The only thing I didn't like about the garden was that I didn't have enough time to spend in it.

There was a 6th garden - the Meyer garden - across the street. It is an amazing place to wander in. One tree especially was amazing!! Thursday evening a get-together was held in the Guardia garden that featured a floral designer using things from the garden for large floral arrangements. Several friends & I roamed the Meyer garden that evening. I had my camera, but didn't take any pictures since they would have all had a flash. I intended to get pics on the tour, but when we got off the bus Saturday morning, almost the entire bus went to the Meyer garden so I went the other way to get pics of the Guardia garden without 50 other people in them. And I just never made it out of the back garden there. I regret now not having gone back to the Meyer garden for pics Sunday morning.

Renaldo,

Thank You for the garden tours.

Usually photos are the next best thing to being there; however, this time of year they may be even better than being there.

Thanks, ladies and cowboy!! I had a lot of fun reliving that one day last summer while I was working with the pics this cold, snowy week.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed them!! :D Thanks.

Reldon, your convention garden pics are beautiful! I'm just a little bit tardy (a month and a half) getting over here to look at them. They sure did the trick for the winter doldrums. I haven't even done any winter sowing yet. Now, I can't wait until spring when the hostas will emerge and I can go play in the garden.
