Hosta of the Day - Hacksaw

Postby redcrx » Oct 29, 2014 11:56 am

Hacksaw is a small wavy-edged hosta. It is a cross of Atom Smasher with Stiletto and has relatively large flowers with purple stripes late in the season.

I was surprised to find Hacksaw had not been done as a Host of the Day. It shows up many times among the topics but never singled out. It is one of my first hosta. I have one in a trough and one in a raised bed. I went back and found I have photos dating to 2008. So this will be a long topic - I hope I'm not boring folks.

Here it is when it first came in in 2008.

Hacksaw during the 2011 season developed fused scapes. Here are pictures of those scapes and flowers.
