Knobs or bumps on hosta roots

Postby ViolaAnn » Sep 23, 2016 4:00 pm

Hi folks,

I dug up my 'Mack the Knife" which hasn't done well in the last few years. Some of the roots had large knobby sections on them. It seems that somewhere in the past I've heard about that being a problem with some hostas, but I can't find anything on Internet. Does anyone know for sure whether I've got a problem?

Do you have a picture? That would help, but it sounds like root knot nematodes could be a possibility.

Thanks, Chris, for putting a name to the possible condition. I'll try to get a picture.
