Blackfoot- lutescent or viridescent?

Postby Don Rawson » Feb 13, 2017 10:50 am

regarding hosta 'Blackfoot' (Plater-Zyberk/Solberg 1994), the Hosta Helper website says, "The foliage starts the season light green and becomes more yellow as the season progresses." The MyHostas Database says, "Bright yellow-gold foliage (almost electric in the spring!)." The New Encyclopedia of Hostas (page 93) says, "Cultivation Notes: Viridescent." Which is it...'Blackfoot' is lutescent or viridescent?

I have this: definitely comes up chartreuse and turns green. Maybe (as I note in my other reply) Mark has a different eye for these things.

I did move this to a sunnier location, though, and will keep an eye on it.
