Lemon Lime- lutescent or viridescent?

Postby Don Rawson » Feb 13, 2017 10:57 am

For hosta 'Lemon Lime', The New Encyclopedia of Hostas (page 419) says, "Leaves remain chartreuse unless hosta is grown in bright light." The MyHostas Database says, "The old leaves fade to light green, contrasting nicely with the bright gold of the new foliage." This is a fairly common hosta. What about seasonal color change...is it lutescent or viridescent?

As you can see in the two pictures from here, it is brighter on emergence. These do burn in the sun, though. They would get greener in shade.
