Ninety-one degrees is TOO hot!

92 here, and I agree, that is way too hot. Oddly enough we almost hit our quota for the day's sales, so we're thrilled with that. Also there is a chance of storms so we're really hoping for some rain relief

I agree! We've had more 90's this year already than we usually do all summer, and there are more 90's to come. The heat index tomorrow is supposed to be well over 100. I will not be working in the garden.

We are behind on rain for the month but got a good one last night. Three HUGE mushrooms popped up overnight in one of the host beds. I love the looks of them in a woodland setting!

Not a drop of rain this month and 95 yesterday with a high of 92 today! Out now getting my weeding and watering done.

It rained yesterday and the day before. Today's fun will begin with temps going to 93. What happened to the beginning of summer. This is like the hottest part of it.

Someone dropped the months in a hat at the beginning of this year, and drew them out
in random order and then stuck them on the calendar, but failed to let us know that the months were
not in proper order. That's what happened. How else would we have May in March, March in April,
June in May, August in June.......... I wonder what's next up!

We are still waiting for some rain here. I can't water becasue it's too windy, and it's also so hot. I don't like
to water, especially the hostas, when it is over 90.

I heard that there were some serious storms in the area just south of the Twin Cities; hope no one had great
damage. My son lives in Burnsville, which apparantly was in the path of the wind yesterday, but he was not
home. I haven't heard whether they had any damage.

Yesterday I declared a 'heat day' and lounged around in my comfy adjustable bed all afternoon, watching the
VHIC presentation of the concert for the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Much better than
wallowing around in the heat and humidity and fierce winds in the garden.

I just heard the weather for tomorrow. Looking at over 100. I think my slushy machine is going to be working overtime.

To hot to do to much outside but I can't help myself when I see the Japanese beetles cruising the garden. They are trashing a couple of clems, my Crepe Myrtle, all my potted plants (lots), two rose bushes and a partridge in a pear tree. My goal is to drown ever last one of the pretty little bassids!

Ack...hate those little bassids too. I'm only seeing a few so far, but they're undoubtedly
getting ready to for a mass attack any day...decided this year to use Sevin on some
of the larger shrubs that they like to defoliate, but it's been too windy to spray. THought I might
be able to get out there in the evening, but the wind was still too high at sundown. Not gonna try
spraying at night.
Maybe tomorrow. Still no rain, and still in the mid-upper 90's. Weather guesser was saying we had
a good chance for rain tonight, but as of yesterday he was backing way off, saying SOME but not ALL
of us would get some showers. Every time there are 'spotty showers' we are not in one of the spots.
We've had less than an inch total since the end of April, and it's really getting scary. It rained for an
hour in town Sat morning, but we got only a few sprinkles here, 4 miles away. Did someone put up
a giant umbrella over our farm?

Hot here too, but a breeze has kept us a little cooler than the 98° it was here yesterday. They say there is a front moving in but most of the rain will be north of us. Maybe you upper Midwest folks will be getting it. Sigh. We have had about an inch of rain here since April, dry as toast all the way down, no subsurface moisture at all.

I think even the Japanese beetles have been cooked. I've only seen three all summer, and hardly any grubs.

I've given the Sevin a lot of thought but with the hummingbirds and butterflys I'm just a bit skeered to.

I HATE "spotty showers". I'm about 10-15 miles form the Mississippi/Missouri river confluence and they seem to always be just a few miles to the North of us or South of us.
I think the Midwest is in for a hot dry summer!

I know, Bob. I hate to use it too, and have not used it in years. I sprayed some yesterday. The wind finally died down, and it wasn't so hot. No rain, but hey...
2 out of 3? Anyway, overnight the ugly little beasts showed up in huge numbers and defoliated most of my climbing hydrangea (funny, they eat that, but don't touch the bush hydrangeas). They were about halfway through the rosebushes, and seriously attacking some other things. I tried to be very careful not to get the Sevin
on anything close by. I did have to spray the lilies..they love eating the blossoms on those, and my huge orienpets are all starting to bloom now. Hate to have those messed up!
Thankfully, we have a little cooler air in place now, and a breeze instead of 25-30 mph winds.
