What kind of fish...?

Postby eastwood2007 » Sep 15, 2009 9:17 am

Hi, everyone!

This is the first time I've posted in this forum, I think...(except about Herb's recommendation on Photoshop - thanks again, Herb).

I need some professional advice, please.

I have a small fountain that I purchased some water lettuce for. Lo and behold, there must have been some fish eggs on the lettuce, as I now have 3 lovely little fish in my fountain.

How can I find out whether they are Koi or goldfish...or neither?

How do I take care of them?

Thanks in advance!

Koi have little whiskers, goldfish do not. When they are little, it is hard to the difference.
Maybe you could check with the pond store and find out what kind of fish they have growing with their water lettuce.
We had the same thing happen to us. We keep both koi and goldfish in our little pond. We had this tiny brown fish show up. He was pretty shy, but over a couple years, grew into a very pretty fancy comet.
