Witch Hazel

Postby fullofit » Dec 11, 2009 3:03 pm

I had always thought that Witch Hazel bloomed in the spring, early, just after the last snow. And that thought is probably why I missed the first 3 years blooming of mine. I happened to notice one winter, that my witch hazel had blooms on it. And in subsequent years it also bloomed in December.
They look like tiny, tiny forsythia. Cute little unobtrusive yellow flowers. Each year there are more blooms on the tree.
Usually covered by a snow blanket. By spring they have all turned brown, and are soon replaced by leaves. CHAR
