'Fancy Francee' Picture and Questions

Postby newB » May 20, 2008 9:44 pm

Hello all, This is one of my favorites. Dose anyone else have this plant?

I thought it was just a plain Francee, but when I was looking at the Hosta Library I found pictures of a 'Fancy Francee', which is what mine looks like.

Dose anyone know if there is a difference? If you have this plant will it keep its unusual color?

Thanks for your help :)

Francee is just green with white edging -- this one must sport to some other variegation, but not all over the plant. Francee is a good, dependable hosta, and always looks good all season long. Phyllis

Yes your Francee is sporting... may be you will se something new or at least different one year or maybe it will settle down to a normal lovely Francee.

With hostas... you never know...they are generally unstable by nature

You really think it is sporting? The pictures of "Fancy Francee" on the Hosta Library site have some plants that look kind of like mine.

I mean, I really, really hope it is sporting, I would be so excited! But I am not sure. I guess I will have to watch it and see what it dose next year....

Even if it never dose it again I have pictures and I will still like the plant :) So I guess I have nothing to loose.

Thanks for looking!

Yes it dose, I am sorry I missed your post.

How long has yours been doing that? Mine is a new plant, I just got it and it came like that. It was labeled "Francee" I got the Fancy part from the Hosta Library.

I hope they come back like this again next year!

Do you think yours is a sport? Some of the varigated leaves on yours look like they are a different shape, so I would think yours would be more of a sport than mine but I really do not know. I will have to ask Chris when I go back to Hallson.

Good Luck with yours!

I am no expert, but I this has to be a sport. The new growth is very different from the old. I noticed this only a couple of weeks ago.
