Old Coot and Joy -- Congrats on making a sensible move, and on having a daughter and son in law who will be close and helpful. What a great arrangement! Re: ALL THAT JUNK -- we, too, wondered that when we moved last July to our newly built home, out of the one we'd lived in for 46 years. We gave away, threw away, sold, until I thought I'd go battier than I already am, but it was a great thing to clear out and take with us just the stuff we need and want. We, like you, made our move while we still had options and didn't have to decide quickly on a different living arrangement. You and Joy are wise, and I'm sure you'll have a new and gorgeous garden at your new abode. I've been having a wheeee! of a time landscaping, planting and generally doing outdoor decorating on this "tabula rasa" that is our new lot. You will have fun, too, with yours.
Good luck to Joy with the knee replacement. My new knee is now about a year and a half old, and it works as well as my other one, which isn't impaired at all. I found out today that I can even kneel on it in the garden, something it's been too tender to do until now. My best advice is to do your recovery therapy religiously: my ortho told me that he could do a perfect replacement job, but if I didn't concentrate on the exercises afterwards, and follow through even though it was painful, I wouldn't have a good result. I did follow through, and my knee works perfectly. Again, good luck to both of you. I'll be looking forward to hearing how it all went, after you are in and settled. Love, Phyllis
