Hosta of the day -'Teeny-weeny Bikini' - post your pics

Postby ViolaAnn » Aug 06, 2011 10:26 am

'Teeny-weeny Bikini' is, perhaps, the smallest hosta I have. I've had it since spring of 2006 and keep it in pots which get buried in my veggie garden for the winter. Very small indeed and this year I had a couple of rogue leaves, but that's all. Not a real sport. This year, the earwigs and slugs have made mincemeat of it which doesn't usually happen.

I had to move mine this spring, asit was completely overshadowed by other plants around it. I planted a group of minis
along a walkway, and then the moles came along and nearly buried all of them. I got them all reset, and Teeny Weeny Bikini
is just now looking like it will make a recovery. So, no pics of it from me, but I love this little plant. Despite the tiny size,
it seems to be quite vigorous.
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten.....

Origin: offspring of H.'Tsugaru Komachi'
Flowers: Tubular, deep purple in late August
Source: Patrick Studio (Gardens Galore)

ViolaAnn---I noticed that Handlebar Hosta Farm in Uxbridge, Ontario have this hosta available on their site. Their website is www.handlebarhostas.ca Telephone no. (905)852-7024. Also Giboshihill Hostas in Cobourg, Ontario have it. Their website is www.simplyhostas.ca. Telephone no. (905)342-3153. I have not ordered with either of them, so I can't give you any opinion.

Thanks. I have a couple of hostas I got from Giboshihill Hostas when they hosted the hosta picnic a couple of years ago. I'll check that out.

I got a new 'Teeny-weeny Bikini' in 2013 but it did not make it through last winter.
