Hosta of the Day - 'Boracay'

Postby redcrx » Feb 18, 2013 8:32 am

Boracay is a sport of Captain Kirk with a highly variable leaf pattern - a member of the Hyacinthina/Gold Standard family. A plant where every leaf can be different and the literature notes it can develop a "watermark" effect.

Some other photos of Boracay in the archives:

I have had this plant since 2010 and had forgotten about it. It is buried in one of my gardens and only can to light when I was doing a HotD for Seducer. I saw a couple of leaves poking out under the foliage.

All of these photos are from 2010 and show the evolution of the leaves during the season:

A little later in the season:

Some of these leaves have a little white "glow" where the color switches over.
