Hosta of the Day #2 - Living Water

Postby redcrx » Oct 25, 2014 8:21 am

Living Water is a large creamy edge hosta with what may be the biggest flowers outside of plantaginea. The flowers are extremely fragrant.

I have two growing in troughs but they really need more space.

Here is Living Water today. It's gotten too big for the trough so I decided to move it to the garden I had been replanting.

I took the plants out of the trough. You can't see the Praying Hands and Peace that are also in there. After breaking them loose I tried to put the Living Water in the hole and the plant was too big for the wire basket I have been putting them in to protect them. I cut the plant in half. One piece went into the ground and the other went back into the trough with its buddies and new dirt. Here is Living Water with Regal Splendor on the left and Neptune on the right.

Living Water after I moved it out of a trough and into the garden.
You can see the baskets - this area was destroyed by voles a few years ago.
