Hosta 'Fragrant Blue'

(K. Vaughn 1988)

Clump Size: (SM) 20" x 10"

Leaf Size: 5" x 3" -- Vein Pairs: 5 - 6

Description: This small to medium sized hosta has attractive, powdery blue turning blue-green, heart shaped leaves.

Blooms: Slightly fragrant, near white flowers in summer.

Comments: Plant this hosta in bright shade for the best blue color. Although the flowers are only mildly fragrant it is well worth growing for its very nicely colored foliage. Although sometimes listed as a small hosta, in time it can form an attractive medium sized clump.

Light: Light sun to dappled shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Blue Flame, Secret Love

Zones: 2 - 8

    Hello,
I was looking to grow my first Hostas plants. I have an area that is shaded on the NW side of the house that gets evening sun. First I want a small plant that would grow best in this area I picked. Second with flowers (white) that bloom the longest. Third would be the blue color leaves. All of this is open to change. I would like a low maintenance variety. I live in Virginia 24467. I can send pictures of the area if you like. I would appreciate your advice on which plants would be best.
    Thanks,
    Wayne
