Hosta 'Guacamole'

(Solberg 1994)

Clump Size: (L) 48" x 24"

Leaf Size: 11" x 8" -- Vein Pairs: 10 - 12

Description: Leaves are oval to heart-shaped with a chartreuse turning yellow center and a medium green margin forming a large and attractive mound.

Blooms: Very fragrant near white flowers bloom in August.

Comments: This fast growing plant was named Hosta of the Year for 2002. Although it is fairly sun and heat tolerant it gets its best color in some morning sun or dappled shade. In too much sun the margin will bleach and in too much shade the center won't lighten enough to notice.

Light: Morning sun to dappled shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Avacado, Fragrant Bouquet, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Bananas, Holy Mole

Zones: 2 - 9

A wonderful hosta with strongly-fragrant flowers, the colors of 'Guacamole' are a bit subtle, but beautiful nonetheless.

Simply put, one of the greatest hostas ever introduced. Thanks Mr. Solberg!
