Hosta 'Humpback Whale'

(Seaver 2012)

Clump Size: (VL) 84" x 35"

Leaf Size: 17" x 15" -- Vein Pairs: 15

Description: This hosta forms a huge dome shaped mound of blue-green, corrugated, heart-shaped foliage. The best blue color is in the spring and be sure to give this plenty of room to fill in over the years as it will be a big one.

Blooms: Near white flowers bloom in early summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Humpback Whale' is an introduction from the late Mildred Seaver that took quite a long time to become commercially available but has long been sought after by those wanting to grow this massive plant. As with all of the big ones you will want to give this plant some rich, acidic soil, plenty of deep water, and then lots of space and a bit of time.

Light: Part sun to full shade. -- Soil: Rich, consistently moist but well-drained.

Zones: 2 - 8
