Hosta hypoleuca

(Japan)

Clump Size: (L) 47" x 15"

Leaf Size: 15" x 11.5" -- Vein Pairs: 11 - 12

Description: Leaves are blue-green turning shiny green, elongated and cascading with a nice rippled edge. Each plant typically sends up only one leaf per eye.

Blooms: Pale lavender flowers bloom in July and August and the scapes tend to lay horizontally in the garden.

Comments: This species hosta from Japan is unique not only for its white backs but also for its habit of typically growing only one leaf per division. The clones we are selling are vigorous multipliers that tend to form very nice clumps and they may actually be Hosta 'Maekawa', an improved selection of Hosta hypoleuca.

Light: Part shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Big Top, Celestial, Kiwi Hippo, Ooh La La

Zones: 2 - 8
