Hosta 'June'

(Neo Plants 1991)

Clump Size: (M) 30" x 16"

Leaf Size: 6" x 4" -- Vein Pairs: 11 - 12

Description: Leaves are spear shaped, yellow centered with a blue-green margin. The center can brighten in some sun but may also darken during hot weather, giving it a highly variable appearance from garden to garden.

Blooms: Lavender flowers bloom on attractive purple spotted scapes.

Comments: This pretty hosta is a sport of H. 'Halcyon' and was named Hosta of the Year for 2001. It can be a little slow to get started but is fantastic when mature and well worth the wait.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Who doesn't love June? I have two, one planted in sun and the other in a shadier location providing two different looks. they have great substance and are not bothered by pests.

'June' is my all-time favorite hosta. I love the markings on it. In my garden, 'June' is one of the last hostas to go dormant in the autumn. I have many hostas, but when anyone tours my garden for the first time, they always stop at 'June' and ask about it. Everyone loves 'June'!
