Hosta 'Paradise Island' PP#20798

(Fransen NR)

Clump Size: (M) 30" x 14"

Leaf Size: 6.5" x 4.5" -- Vein Pairs: 7 - 8

Description: Leaves are vibrant, bright yellow in spring with a nice green edge. The petioles are bright red with some of the red color coming up into the base of each leaf.

Blooms: Attractive medium lavender flowers in late summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Paradise Island' is a fantastic green edged sport of Hosta 'Fire Island'. it has a green edge all year long but emerges brilliant yellow in the center which turns to a chartreuse green later in summer. It holds up extremely well through the season and is more tolerant of different garden conditions compared to its parent. We highly recommend this hosta plant.

Light: Light shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Fire Island, Island Breeze, Volcano Island

Zones: 2 - 8

The color on this Hosta is beautiful, a little slow to get going, but it is so bright and eye catching its worth the wait. I have mine near Stirfry. Great red petioles also.

Now taking advance orders for fall shipping:

Thank you for a great year so far. We've had wonderful responses to our spring and summer shipments and are now taking orders for fall shipping which will begin the week of September 21st. You can also schedule your shipment at later times into October or November if you want, simply specify your preferred shipping time at checkout. Lily bulbs and Hellebores will be updated soon and those ship after October 1st

Hostas, Daylilies, and Bearded Iris ship all summer long and those orders can be shipped almost immediately. We also have some great summer sale items available, plus some brand new daylilies are shipping now at a special discounted price of 20% off the future 2016 pricing.

The nursery is still to the public 7 days a week from 9am to dark, including all holidays, so we will be open on Labor Day. We will close in late October, depending on the fall weather, so if you are in the area we would love to show you around and help you pick out some plants. We are located on the west side of US Highway 127, 17 miles south of Jackson, Michigan, and 1/2 mile north of US-12.

Feel free to email us or call us toll free at 866-568-1474 with any questions and thank you very much for your continued support!

Sincerely yours, Chris Wilson and Brian Hall, Hallson Gardens
