Hosta 'Queen of the Seas'

(M. Seaver 2001)

Clump Size: (L) 48" x 24"

Leaf Size: 11.5" x 9" -- Vein Pairs: 11

Description: This excellent hosta has lightly twisted, pointed, blue-green leaves with a heavily rippled, piecrust margin and a serrated edge. It will become a spectacular plant when mature and the blue color and serrated edge make it one of the best piecrust edged hostas we've seen.

Blooms: Near white flowers bloom in June and July.

Comments: One of the best hostas introduced by Mildred Seaver. Plant it in full shade for the best blue coloration.

Light: Light shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8

I bought this hosta because of the pie crust edge and colour. It didn't disappoint in year three. can't wait for it to get bigger.

Oueen of the Seas reigns over many of my other hostas as a show stopper. Great blue gray color in the spring, and ruffled leaves with prominent veins adds interest through out the season. I'm surprised more people don't grow it. It's one of my favorites.
