Hosta 'Salvation Army'

(Wilson/Hallson Gardens)

Clump Size: (M) 30" x 16"

Leaf Size: 7" x 4" -- Vein Pairs: 7 - 8

Description: Shiny, elliptic to elongated leaves form a medium sized clump and are topped with many attractive purple flowers in late summer on upright, stiff, red scapes.

Blooms: Dark purple striped flowers bloom on red scapes in late summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Salvation Army' is a seedling selection found here at Hallson Gardens that caught our eye for the dense, stiff, upright red scapes and nice purple flowers, like soldiers standing in a row.  The seed pods are also reddish purple for continued interest into the fall.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, consistently moist soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
