Hosta 'World Cup'

(Beilstein/Zilis 2006)

Clump Size: (ML) 40" x 20"

Leaf Size: 9" x 6" -- Vein Pairs: 13 - 14

Description: Cupped and corrugated, upright leaves are chartreuse with a glaucous coating turning yellow as the summer progresses.  It will form a relatively large clump and can brighten even more in some sunlight.

Blooms: Pale purple flowers bloom in June/July.

Comments: Hosta 'World Cup' is a hybrid of Hosta 'Komodo Dragon' x Hosta 'Superbowl' that is a good grower and would make a nice accent plant in a mid-size garden though I find it gets lost here among the bigger hostas.  It would stand out really well with something like the dark green of a Christmas fern.  This plant was named Hosta of the Year for 2018 by the AHGA.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
