Hostas, Daylilies, and bearded Iris now shipping for the summer.

Thank you for visiting our online catalog. Hostas and daylilies ship all summer long, plus bearded Iris are now updated and shipping, however we are no longer shipping other perennials until fall, starting the 3rd week of September.

Orders for hostas, daylilies, and bearded Iris ship Monday, Tuesday, and Saturdays and take about 2 to 3 days to turn around as we continue to also be busy with walk-in customers at the nursery.

The nursery is open for visitors 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm including holidays. If you are interested in a particular item listed in our catalog and you are making a long drive please call us to check on availability first. Not all items are available for immediate purchase as not everything can be dug throughout the summer but we have an excellent selection of perennials for the sun and the shade. Hostas are dug on demand and many other perennials and shrubs are potted up and available for purchase. The selection here and what is listed in our mail order catalog varies but the nursery looks great and there is a lot blooming when you visit.

If you have any questions or concerns you can email us or call us toll free at (866) 568-1474.

Thank you very much for your support and think spring!

Spring shipping is underway!

Thank you for visiting our online catalog. Spring shipping has begun so we are busy digging and prepping orders to get them out to you for spring planting. Shipping from our Michigan nursery in April means you are getting cold hardened perennial plants that were growing outdoors and can be planted directly out in your garden too. Hostas will be breaking ground here in May so if you are in a colder climate or still have a risk of frosts or freezes this is actually a good time to get your shipment because you can still plant them outside and then they will come up on your garden schedule. Or if you prefer we can hold your hosta orders until after your danger of frost has passed, just specify your preferred shipping time at checkout and we'll get your order on our schedule.

In addition to our hostas and perennials we are shipping Dutch lily bulbs from our lily coolers and everything currently in stock on our website is ready to ship right away. Orders for field dug perennials take about 7 to 10 days to turn around due to our busy spring schedule but lily bulbs typically ship within a few days of placing your order.

If you have any questions or concerns you can email us or call us toll free at (866) 568-1474.

Thank you very much for your support and think spring!

Is spring around the corner?

Thank you for visiting our online catalog. Is spring really almost here? We are waiting and are excited to get started digging for the new 2014 season. Our website is completely updated for the new year and we are taking advance orders for April and May shipping. Lily bulbs are updated and we should be able to start shipping lily bulbs towards the end of March. Remember to order ahead for best selection of all plants, and we can hold orders into May, just mention your preferred shipping time at checkout.

This winter has been extremely cold up here in Michigan so while we hope to be digging in April, and are scheduling hostas starting the week of April 7th, they might be delayed just a little after that. If you have any questions or concerns you can email us or call us toll free at (866) 568-1474.

Thank you very much for your support and think spring!

2014 Catalog is now online:

The 2014 catalog is now online:

Good news everyone! The online catalog is complete and we are now taking orders for the spring of 2014. Get your orders in today to reserve your plants and just let us know at checkout when you would prefer to have them shipped. Spring shipping officially starts in April for us, though in some cases, and depending on the weather, we can often start shipping in mid to late March. Dormant plant shipping for spring of most perennials ends in mid to late May, again depending on the weather and how fast the plants break dormancy. Hostas and daylilies are shipped all summer long and into the fall and can be preordered now for shipping in April, May, or early June.

When you pre-order for spring we normally do not bill credit cards until the time of shipping. However, if you want to pay at the time you place your order of $50 or more use coupon code PAYNOW10 and we will take 10% off your plant total. This coupon applies to plant orders of $50 or more for spring shipping placed in January or February. If you don't use this coupon we will wait and bill your card when we ship your order.

Lily bulbs are partially updated with the remaining updates to be completed in January or early February. Last year we had supplier problems with getting the varieties we were supposed to, so we are working with other companies that are better but take a little longer to get confirmation. Sorry for the delay.

Feel free to email us or call us toll free at 866-568-1474 with any questions and thank you very much for your continued support!

Sincerely yours, Chris Wilson and Brian Hall, Hallson Gardens

Thank you for a great year!

We are done with plant shipping for the year as the ground is frozen now here in Michigan. Thank you very much for a wonderful season. You can still order hearth crickets and gift certificates and the online catalog will be updated in January to start taking spring plant orders at that time.

Fall shipping continues into October and November

Fall shipping continues into October and November.

We continue shipping for fall planting and our website is now updated with the first lily bulbs that are ready though a few others will be added later as they develop. Due to cold night temps in August and September our lily crop has not gone dormant yet. The bulbs are not ready as expected so we are holding some back for a while longer. We can ship the lily bulbs that are now updated, plus we have updated our Hellebore selection and are shipping those again too. Fall is the best time to transplant Hellebores and our crop is at least 3 years old and looking great.

The nursery is open 7 days a week from 9am to dark into October and we are having our annual fall clearance sale here, so if you can make the drive it is worth it for some great bargains, though stop out soon for the best selection. We are located 17 miles south of Jackson, Michigan on US-127, 1/2 mile north of US-12. For GPS directions use the address of 17680 US Highway 127, Cement City, MI 49233 as our regular nursery address usually takes you about 1 mile north of us.

Feel free to email us or call us toll free at 866-568-1474 with any questions and thank you very much for your continued support!

Spring shipping is in full swing!

Now shipping for spring!

Our growing areas are thawed out, lily bulbs are in cold storage, and spring shipping is in full swing. As of mid-April our turnaround time is about 3 to 5 days but as our busiest time approaches during May, our turnaround sometimes gets closer to 2 weeks, so order as soon as possible and then let us know your preferred shipping time during checkout. This way you get on our schedule and we will send your shipment when you are ready to plant. With most perennials they transplant easiest while they are still dormant and they will wake up with the rest of your plants. If you can work the soil in your garden without it being water logged then you can plant our field grown, freshly dug perennials. In April our hostas are shipped completely dormant in peat moss and starting in May they will be shipped wrapped in wet paper towels as they will be just starting to emerge from the ground. Contact us if you need help picking out a good shipping time or have any planting questions.

As advance orders come in, some items are going out of stock. If an item says out of stock you can click the button to add your email to be notified when that item is back in stock. This is a great way for you to know as soon as the item is available again for advance order, and also gives us the chance to keep up with our production needs for the future.

Feel free to email us or call us toll free at 866-568-1474 with any questions and thank you very much for your continued support!

We have recently added a great new feature to the website for back in stock email notifications! If an item is out of stock you can click the button to add your email to be notified when that item is back in stock. Fall shipping begins September 17th

Now taking orders for fall shipping.

Our website is being updated with our perennial inventory for the fall and we can start taking orders for fall shipping at any time. Fall, freshly dug, bare root shipping begins the week of September 17th or you can specify a later date during checkout. Our special offers of $5.00, $15.00, or $40.00 off will apply to all internet orders for fall shipping. Sorry, we are not yet taking orders for the spring.

Lily bulbs for the fall are not yet updated and won't be updated for a couple more weeks. We may have to continue updating the lilies all through September and shipping for fall lily bulbs won't start until at least October 1st. Hellebores will also be updated within the next couple weeks and fall shipping for Helleborus will begin the week of October 1st.

Hostas and Bearded Iris are updated for the summer

Thank you for visiting our website! Our 13th year selling plants by mail has started off really well and we've finally had a chance to update our hosta inventory after a busy spring. The plants available online are looking great and if you have a chance to stop out and visit us in person you will be able to see even more plants and more variety here. The nursery is also jam packed with many great perennials for sun and shade, including tons of plants that we don't offer by mail such as groundcovers, shrubs, and water plants.

We have also just updated our Bearded Iris list for 2012 and have some great new additions for the summer. We can ship any time now and will continue shipping hostas, daylilies, and Iris all summer long.

Thank you again for a great start to 2012! If you have any questions don't hestitate to contact us and thank you very much for your continued support!

Sincerely yours, Chris Wilson and Brian Hall, Hallson Gardens

Thank you for a great spring season!

Thank you for a great spring season! Our 13th year selling plants by mail has definitely started out with some strange weather, so unfortunately we are ending our spring perennial shipping a little early, due to the unusually early and warm spring, but will be shipping hostas and daylilies through the summer and then begin shipping many perennials again during the third week of September. A few select items will continue shipping into June, but for most it is getting a bit too hot to transplant any longer for the spring.

This spring's weather has also proven a challenge for field grown hostas and, due to frost damage, many of our hostas are listed as "out of stock" at this time. We still have a large inventory of plants here, but they do not look their best so we took them off the website for a while. As plants begin to recover we will take a new inventory in early June and completely update our hosta listing, hoping to add many things back into inventory. And if you are planning a trip here you will find that we still have thousands of plants to choose from and as long as you can look past some of the blemishes there is plenty to see here!

Thank you again for a great start to 2012! If you have any questions don't hestitate to contact us and thank you very much for your continued support! Sincerely yours, Chris Wilson and Brian Hall, Hallson Gardens

Fall shipping continues for just 2 more weeks

Fall perennial shipping continues into November however the nursery has ended regular hours and is open by appointment or by chance.

The weather is turning cold here in Michigan and we've had a killing frost so all hostas and perennials are still freshly dug but will be shipped without foliage. Our special offers and sale items are good for fall shipments only. The website will be updated for 2012 in December.

Spring shipping is in full swing!

Spring is finally here and our busy shipping season is running smoothly! The hostas, perennials, and even the lily bulbs are all looking great this year, thanks to a slightly mild, snow covered winter here in Michigan and a slow start to spring followed by fairly normal spring rainfall. We have been lucky to avoid all the really bad storms, and wish the best to all those affected around the country by drought, tornadoes, and floods.

We are currently shipping on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and new orders for immediate shipping are going out in about 3 to 5 days. If you have a special time constraint or a special shipping request let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Thank you again for your business! - Chris Wilson and Brian Hall, Hallson Gardens

Now taking orders for 2011

Think spring and check out all of our new items for 2011. This season we have over 160 new items, including our own exciting introduction, Hosta 'Radiant Star' and the wonderful pink Annabelle Hydrangea 'Invincibelle Spirit' (PPAF).

We start shipping some items at the end of March and can start digging in April but can schedule your order to ship at your preferred planting time through May. And the sooner you order the better as we reserve plants in as your order is received, not as they ship, and some items will sell out.

The nursery will open to the public on Friday, May 7th at 9am and we will be open every day from 9am to 9pm into October. If you would like to order ahead you can pick up your order here in Cement City, just choose "pick up at nursery" for the shipping method during checkout. You can save on shipping charges, and if you shop after we open you can browse from many other plants not listed online.

Thank you for a great year!

Thank you very much for your support in 2010!

We are currently working on our 2011 catalog and will have the hostas updated around Christmas time and have the rest of the catalog updated in early January. Once the 2011 online catalog is completed we will start taking advance orders for the spring shipping season.

We begin shipping lily bulbs for 2011 at the end of March and the rest of the catalog can ship starting in early April into May. Advance orders can be scheduled to ship in April or May, simply indicate your preferred shipping time in the comment field at the end of checkout.

Thank you again for all of your support. We look forward to working with you again in 2011!

Spring Shipping Has Begun

Spring shipping is underway here at Hallson Gardens. New orders can be processed and shipped in about a week, or you can specify your specific shipping time in the comment field on the last step of checkout.

Remember, since all of the plants we sell are hardy perennials grown outdoors you can plant as soon as your garden drains well and is workable.  You don't have to wait until last frost as these plants are hardened off and mostly dormant still, so they can be planted, watered lightly (most plants don't like to be over watered this time of year), and they will emerge with the rest of your garden.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us.  Since we are in the nursery and growing areas this time of year the best way to contact us is by email, or leave a message if you get our answering machine.

Thank you for your business!

Now taking orders for 2010

Our online catalog is now updated and we are currently taking orders for 2010. Shipping starts in April but we can hold orders until mid to late May and ship when you are ready to plant. Sorry, we do not have a printed catalog.

Our hosta and perennial plants are generous, field grown divisions and clumps, freshly dug and shipped bare root. Lily bulbs are imported from Holland and stored here at our nursery in Michigan in temperature and humidity controlled freezers. We carefully inspect all plants when they are shipped to make sure you are getting the best plants possible and we back up the plants with a 60 day guarantee. We believe you will find our plants are excellent quality and a great value overall but if you have any trouble with any plants let us know right away so we can correct it.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything else by emailing us or calling us at (866) 568-1474. Thank you very much for your support! Sincerely yours, Chris Wilson and Brian Hall Hallson Gardens

Hosta plants are updated for 2010

Hosta plants are currently updated for 2010 and we are taking advance spring orders at this time. Perennial plants, lily bulbs, and daylilies are being updated daily and all of our 2010 catalog will be updated over the next few weeks.

We do recommend ordering in advance to ensure the best selection, especially with our hostas.  We will reserve your plants as orders are placed, not as they are shipped, so we can schedule your hosta shipment for April, May, or early June, or schedule your perennial shipment for April through mid-May.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and thank you very much for your support!

Spring perennial shipping comes to a close on June 1st

Another great spring shipping season is winding down and our last day to ship perennials is June 1st, however we DO continue to ship hostas and daylilies all summer long. Hostas are freshly dug and shipped with all of the foliage intact. We wrap the roots in wet paper towels and then seal that with a plastic bag. We then wrap the entire plant in craft paper and put them into a long, tall box.

The nursery is open all summer for walk in business, open 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week. Please note that "Out of Stock" means out of stock by mail. We still have many items available at the nursery.

Perennial shipping will resume the 2nd week of September.

Thank you very much for all of your support!

Spring Shipping Starts March 30th

The cold weather has finally broken here in Michigan and we will begin digging the week of March 30th.  We continue to ship perennials through May and will ship hostas, daylilies, and sedum through the summer.  Perennial shipping will then start up again in mid September through November.

When placing your order please indicate your preferred shipping date in the comment field during checkout.  We encourage advance orders so you can get on our schedule.  As we approach May new orders often take 2 weeks to process, so please order early.

If you need to reach us by phone the best time to call is in the evening as we are often outside in the nursery during this busy time.  Or please leave a message on the answering machine and we will return your call shortly as we check messages regularly.

Thank you very much for your business!

Sincerely yours,

Chris Wilson, Hallson Gardens

Now taking advance orders for spring shipping!

Great news! We are now taking advance orders for spring shipments!

Our 2009 catalog is now updated here online and we are taking advance orders for April, May, and early June shipments.

When you place your order please tell us your preferred shipping date in the comment field on the last page of checkout. We typically thaw and dry out enough to dig around the last week of March but can schedule your order when you want to plant. Remember, our plants are field grown, cold hardy perennials, so you do not have to wait until last frost date to plant. In fact, it is often better to plant dormant plants while your plants are still dormant, so long as the soil is workable and not overly wet, then your new plants will emerge right along with your other garden plants, almost like they weren't even moved.

If you have questions about our plants, about placing an order, or need anything else, feel free to contact us by email or leave a message on our answering machine and we will return your call. Thank you for your interest in our plants!

Plant shipping is done for the season.

Winter has hit hard here in Michigan, so we are no longer able to dig and ship plants at this time.

Our 2009 catalog will be posted here online in early January and we will begin taking spring orders at that time. Shipping will restart around April 1st but advance orders can be scheduled up until the 3rd week of May.

Thank you for your past and future support. We really appreciate it! Have a great winter!

Online Catalog updated for fall - shipping begins 9/22

The weather is finally cooling off so it is a great time to plant!

For the fall we have added Poppies, Peonies, and Hellebores, plus we have updated many other items for fall shipping such as lilies, pulmonaria, tiarella, phlox, etc. Just click on the category links found in the far left column. For perennials you can browse by botanical name, though common names are also listed. The number found in parentheses next to the name indicates the number of cultivars or varieties offered within that category of plants. A zero (0) means that we don't offer that item for fall, such as with the hardy ferns which don't take as well when planted late in the season.

Lily bulb and peony shipping begins October 6th, but just about everything else begins shipping September 22nd. You can order in advance at any time and we can also hold orders longer if you won't be ready to ship that soon.

Let us know if you have any questions, and thank you for your interest in our nursery and our plants!

Sincerely yours,

Chris Wilson Hallson Gardens

Shipping continues on hostas, daylilies, and sedum through summer.

Greetings!

Although summer is upon us we continue shipping hostas, daylilies, and sedum through August and then starting in mid September we will have other perennials available by mail for fall planting. Also be sure to check out our Specials! page often as we add things there all summer long.

Here at the nursery we are open 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm, including holidays, and there is a lot to see and a lot available at this time. We have close to 300 hostas to choose from plus hundreds of different perennials for sale, or feel free to walk through the growing areas and display gardens to get some great ideas for your own gardens. Click on the Visit the Nursery link on the left side of the page for directions.

Thank you very much for your support. We really appreciate it!

Spring Perennial Shipping Ending the week of May 27th!

The spring perennial shipping season will be ending the week of May 27th. Many items are now too sprouted to ship, however we continue shipping Hostas, Daylilies, and Sedum through the summer. Many perennials will be available for shipping again in the fall starting September 15th and the nursery is open through the summer 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm or dark.

Please note that when an item reads "out of stock" that usually means it is out of stock by mail. We have many things available at the nursery PLUS we grow and sell hundreds more plants at the nursery that simply aren't offered by mail as they don't ship well. Feel free to contact us if you see an item listed as "out of stock" but are planning a trip to see us and want to know if we have it for sale here.

Thank you very much for your past and future support. We really appreciate your business!
