Acorus calamus 'Variegatus'

Variegated sweet flag grass has long, narrow, 24 to 36" tall iris-like foliage that is green with creamy white vertical stripes. It prefers rich, moist to wet soil for best growth but is fairly adaptable to any good soil so long as it isn't too dry. In early summer the rhizomes can produce a small white "bloom" that looks like a mini cattail, but the bloom is insignificant as this plant is mostly grown for its attractive variegation that makes a fantastic vertical accent in almost any garden.

Height: 24 - 36" Spacing: 15 - 18" apart
Light: Full sun to part shade Soil: Humus-rich, consistently moist to wet
Bloom Time: Insignificant Zones: 4 - 10
