Allium senescens

Allium senescens, known as German garlic, has thin green blades that grow vertically with a little bit of a twist, forming a clump like a miniature daylily. In July and early August each clump is covered with lavender, pom-pom shaped blooms. The flowers are similar to Allium s. var. 'Glaucum' but the foliage is straight and green, grows taller, flower a few weeks early. These are very popular at the nursery.

Height: 15" Spacing: 15 - 18" apart
Light: Full sun to part sun Soil: Average to loamy, well-draining
Bloom Time: Late summer Zones: 3 - 9
