Asplenium trichomanes

Aplenium trichomanes, known as maidenhair spleenwort, has small 4 to 7" arching, evergreen fronds that are made up of tiny rounded pinnae on dark stems, spreading slowly to form an 8 to 12" clump. It is native to dry, rocky conditions and is very cold hardy. Plant it in the dry shade garden, in a shady rock garden, or tuck it into the crevices of a rock wall. Avoid areas that remain wet, especially in late winter/early spring.
