Baptisia 'Solar Flare'

Baptisia 'Solar Flare' Prairieblues ™ is a large hybrid Baptisia with lemon yellow flowers that develop a rusty orange blush, blooming in early summer on 2' long spikes over a mound of blue-green foliage. Overall the clumps can grow up to 4' tall and wide. (PP#20408)

Baptisia is a member of the legume family so it has a pea-like flower and rounded leaves like sweet peas and lupines. They grow to shrub-like proportions but die back to the ground each winter. It grows from a very deep taproot and will develop a massive root system over time, but can be moved successfully when dormant in the spring and fall.

Height: 30 - 36" Spacing: 36 - 48" apart
Light: Full sun to part sun Soil: Any average to rich, well-draining
Bloom Time: Early summer Zones: 3 - 8
