Baptisia 'Twilite Prairieblues'

Baptisia 'Twilite Prairieblues' is a beautiful hybrid Baptisia with smoky purple flowers with a yellow midrib, blooming in early summer on 2' long spikes over a huge mound of blue-green foliage. This is a very large Baptisia creating a 4' x 5' clump and possibly growing larger, so give it plenty of room. It is one of the most vigorous Baptisia we've grown and it makes a very bold statement in the landscape. Plant it with bright yellow Iris or yellow ever-blooming daylilies such as Happy Returns for a terrific combination. (PP#19011)

Baptisia is a member of the legume family so it has a pea-like flower and rounded leaves like sweet peas and lupines. It grow to shrub-like proportions but dies back to the ground each winter. It grows from a very deep taproot and will develop a massive root system over time, but can be moved successfully when dormant in the spring and fall.
