Baptisia 'Vanilla Cream

Baptisia 'Vanilla Cream' is a shorter false indigo with bronzy foliage for a short time as it emerges in the spring, then in early summer it carries an abundance of 10" creamy yellow flowers on many stems. The clumps are relatively compact, growing 2' tall and 3' wide, so it fits into the smaller perennial garden better than other types of Baptisia. (PP#25663)

Baptisia is a member of the legume family so it has a pea-like flower and rounded leaves like sweet peas and lupines. They grow to shrub-like proportions but die back to the ground each winter. It grows from a very deep taproot and will develop a massive root system over time, but can be moved successfully when dormant in the spring and fall.

Height: 30 - 36" Spacing: 36" apart
Light: Full sun to part sun Soil: Any average to rich, well-draining
Bloom Time: Early summer Zones: 3 - 8
