Clematis x durandii

Clematis x durandii is a Clematis integrifolia hybrid that is a semi-vining plant growing 5 to 7' tall. Train it up a trellis or other support, or allow it to scramble in the garden or among shrubs. In the summer it produces many violet-blue flowers that branch out from the end of each new growth point with new flowers emerging for weeks.

Clematis x durandii develops some woody stems but flowers on new wood so is best pruned hard in early spring for the most uniform growth and flowering. Flowers that open on cool, cloudy days will be violet but then they age to a light violet-blue.
