Echinacea 'Hot Lava'

Echinacea 'Hot Lava' (PPAF) has flowers that are constantly changing around a central orange cone. The petals first open orange, then darken to an orange red, then age to purple, staying red the longest in cool weather, flowering on sturdy 33" stems. In our Michigan nursery this coneflower bloomed longer than any other in 2011, flowering from mid summer all the way through October without any deadheading.

These field grown Echinaea are best transplanted after your soil has dried out and warmed up in the spring. Water once, lightly, upon planting then allow them to stay on the dry side until they have fully emerged.

Height:  33" Spacing:  18 - 24" apart
Light:  Full sun to part sun Soil:  Average to loamy, dry and well-draining
Bloom Time:  Summer Zones:  3 - 8
