Hosta 'Aladdin's Lamp'

(Ward 1996)

Clump Size: (L) 48" x 21"

Leaf Size: 9" x 6" -- Vein Pairs: 15

Description: Leaves are cupped and corrugated, chartreuse turning yellow, held on upright stems. It is a slow growing plant but develops into a nice specimen. Combine with darker plants or blue hostas for excellent contrast.

Blooms: Near white flowers bloom in July.

Comments: Hosta 'Aladdin's Lamp' is a tokudama type seedling from Dick and Jane Ward. The color is a glaucous yellow, giving it a cool green appearance when grown in the shade. Some bright light may help it become more yellow but avoid dry conditions as this could slow down its growth.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
