Hosta 'Barbara Ann'

(Park Green Nurseries NR)

Clump Size: (L) 36" x 20"

Leaf Size: 12" x 9" -- Vein Pairs: 14 - 16

Description: This hosta forms a large clump of thick blue-gray leaves with a very attractive cream to white margin.

Blooms: Near white in early summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Barbara Ann' is a tissue culture sport of Hosta 'Elegans' with great variegation. Like its parent it is rather slow growing but will make a wonderful specimen when it matures. Some plants introduced earlier appeared to develop the drawstring effect due to a thinner than normal margin. After 2 full seasons growing here, this batch of plants appear to have better margins and have not shown signs of drawstring so we believe these will become good specimens.

Light: Moderate to full shade for best color. -- Soil: Rich, moist, well-drained.

Similar and Related Plants: American Halo, Elegans, Northern Exposure

Zones: 2 - 8
