Hosta 'Flamenco Mouse'

(Wilson/Hallson Gardens 2012)

Clump Size: (MINI) 10" x 6"

Leaf Size: 2" x 1" -- Vein Pairs: 4

Description: Leaves are blue-green with a slightly darker center from the quilted and ruffled edge. As it matures the leaves pinch in the center with some leaves coming close to 1/4" from touching on each side.

Blooms: Light purple flowers bloom in dense clusters that rise just above the foliage. Along with darker flowers there can also be some darker coloring on the scapes, making the blooms different from its parent and related sports.

Comments: Hosta 'Flamenco Mouse' was one of three ruffled Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears' sports found at our nursery several years ago within multiple batches of tissue culture plants. We grew them on and selected this one for introduction due to its much smaller size over time along with its much darker flowers compared to any other Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears' sport we've seen.

Light: Part sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Blue Mouse Ears, Ruffled Mouse Ears, Church Mouse, Dancing Mouse

Zones: 2 - 8
