Hosta 'Hanky Panky' PP#16217

(Hansen 2004)

Clump Size: (ML) 30" x 16"

Leaf Size: 8" x 5" -- Vein Pairs: 8 - 9

Description: This unusual hosta starts out with a green center and a cream misted green margin separated by a creamy white strip. As the season progresses the colors reverse so that by fall the center is creamy yellow and the margin greenish with a creamy white strip between. (See the seasonal color comparison photos below.)

Blooms: Lavender flowers in midsummer.

Comments: This sport of H. 'Striptease' has a very unusual color pattern so that it looks different all the time. The early spring and the late fall colors are quite attractive but some think the transitional colors are not as good looking, so you might want to put this where you can see it from a distance. Like its parent it is a vigorous grower. H. 'Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' is similar.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Gold Standard, Striptease, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

Zones: 2 - 8

This is one of my top five. Hanky Panky is always changing, and I love to see what it's going to do next.

At two years old mine has grown into a good-sized clump. It gets some sun and is planted beside Striptease.
