Hosta 'Ice Age Trail'

(Zilis 2003)

Clump Size: (L) 36" x 16"

Leaf Size: 10" x 7" -- Vein Pairs: 13 - 15

Description: Upright, cupped and puckered leaves are blue to blue-green with irregular cream and white streaks throughout the leaves which will vary greatly from plant to plant.

Blooms: Near white flowers bloom in June.

Comments: Hosta 'Ice Age Trail' is a misted and streaked sport of Hosta 'Big Daddy'. It is slow growing, especially if the plants have an extreme amount of creamy white in them, so we try to only select plants with light streaking so that they maintain their vigor. Hosta 'Ice Age Trail' is fairly stable and very fertile so it works great as both a specimen plant and as breeding stock. NOTE: It is best to ship these when leafed out and actively growing to insure the best variegated plant is sent.

Light: Dappled shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, cool, consistently moist soil.

Related Plants: Big Daddy

Zones: 2 - 8
