Hosta 'Ivory Queen'

(Walters Gardens 2014)

Clump Size: (S) 18" x 12"

Leaf Size: 6" x 3.5" -- Vein Pairs: 11 - 12

Description: Leaves are spear shaped, blue-green with a white center that becomes misted in the summer. (PPAF)

Blooms: Lavender flowers bloom in late July and August.

Comments: Hosta 'Ivory Queen' is a reverse sport of Hosta 'Blue Ivory'. Both can be very slow to multiply but can also be really pretty. Some extra moisture and a little extra fertilizer can help it to get established quicker. When stressed due to drought or heat the center will become misted blue and may even turn a solid blue color. Planting in a cool location and making sure it doesn't dry out will help it to stay variegated, and because the color gets lost in heat we don't recommend this one for hot, Southern gardens.

Light: Dappled sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Blue Ivory

Zones: 2 - 8
