Hosta 'Jewel of the Nile'

(Walek 2000)

Clump Size: (L) 48" x 24"

Leaf Size: 8" x 6.5" -- Vein Pairs: 12 - 14

Description: Leaves are blue-green, lightly corrugated with pinkish petioles and a chartreuse changing to golden yellow margin. The margin becomes brighter yellow as the season progresses, especially when grown in some bright light.

Blooms: Near white flowers bloom in June and July.

Comments: This is a very attractive blue-green centered sport of H. 'Dee's Golden Jewel' that is quite sun tolerant and will have the brightest yellow margin color when grown in some bright light. Although some pictures on the internet show a streaked plant, the streaked plants are from poor tissue culture cloning. The streaked clones are very unstable. Many eyes will revert to its parent (a solid gold plant) and they rarely keep any of the streaking over time.

Light: Part sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist soil.

Related Plants: Bell Bottom Blues, Dee's Golden Jewel

Zones: 2 - 8
