Hosta 'Lakeside Old Smokey'

(Chastain 2004)

Clump Size: (M) 40" x 15"

Leaf Size: 13" x 9" -- Vein Pairs: 13

Description: Attractive powdery blue leaves are rounded and elongated, coming to a point, with a nice rippled edge.

Blooms: Pale purple flowers bloom in August.

Comments: Hosta 'Lakeside Old Smokey' is a very attractive plant with great blue color and a nice piecrust edge. It is a hybrid with Hosta hypoleuca genes which gives the leaves white backs and gives it dense, arching flowers. This hosta has performed well in our shady growing area, keeping its blue color most of the summer and growing very well overall, however it is prone to slug damage so don't forget to protect this one with some bait.

Light: Part shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
