Hosta 'Monsoon'

(Ward 2005)

Clump Size: (ML) 36" x 20"

Leaf Size: 8" x 6" -- Vein Pairs: 10 - 12

Description: Somewhat rounded and wavy leaves are chartreuse turning yellow with a medium green edge. It colors best in some bright light and will form a medium-large mound in time.

Blooms: Light purple.

Comments: Though Hosta 'Monsoon' is registered and was introduced as a green edged sport of Hosta 'Great Lakes Gold' we think that information could be wrong. The hostas we have grown for several seasons from different batches of tissue culture, don't seem to have any characteristics of Hosta 'Great Lakes Gold'. In addition the flowers seem to be a shade darker and flower later which is a clear indication that the parentage would be wrong.

Light: Part sun to light shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
