Hosta 'Northern Exposure'

(Walters Gardens 1997)

Clump Size: (L) 48" x 28"

Leaf Size: 15" x 10.5" -- Vein Pairs: 17 - 19

Description: This large hosta forms a beautiful clump of blue-green foliage with a very wide cream margin. The margins start out creamy yellow and age to creamy white.

Blooms: Near white in early summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Northern Exposure' is a wide margined selection of Hosta 'Northern Halo', introduced after poor, thin margined plants of Hosta 'Northern Halo' were inadvertently introduced which developed the drawstring effect. The original Hosta 'Northern Halo', a sport of Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans', did have a wide margin, however, so it was reintroduced as Hosta 'Northern Exposure' which does NOT drawstring, and is a very desirable plant.

Light: Part shade to full shade. -- Soil: Rich, moist, well-drained.

Related Plants: American Halo, Elegans, Northern Halo, Eskimo Pie

Zones: 2 - 8
