Hosta 'Parasol'

Clump Size: (VL) 48" x 24"

Leaf Size: 12" x 10" -- Vein Pairs: 13 - 14

Description: Leaves are large and satiny, blue-green early then turning dark green, with a yellow to creamy yellow margin.

Blooms: Very pale lavender flowers bloom in midsummer.

Comments: Hosta 'Parasol' is another edge variegated sport of Hosta 'Blue Umbrellas', along with Hosta 'Rain Dancer' and Hosta 'Singing in the Rain' (PP#19565). They all have some differences, with Hosta 'Rain Dancer' being more greenish early on and Hosta 'Singing in the Rain' being more yellow at the start, but at the same time they are pretty similar. Hosta 'Parasol', in our experience, has held up well through the summer and the color is more consistent through the season too.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist soil.

Related Plants: Blue Umbrellas, Rain Dancer, Singing in the Rain (PP#19565)

Zones: 2 - 8

Hosta 'Parasol' and the rest of the Hosta 'Blue Umbrellas' family do best in cooler climates, so I don't recommend this one for Southern gardens. -Chris
