Hosta 'Smooth Sailing'

(Elslager 2002)

Clump Size: (L) 40" x 28"

Leaf Size: 14" x 7" -- Vein Pairs: 14 - 15

Description: Leaves are wide but elongated, lightly corrugated and wavy, chartreuse turning bright yellow in the center with a streaky, medium green to dark green margin.

Blooms: Light lavender flowers bloom in mid summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Smooth Sailing' is a hybrid of Hosta 'Fascination' x Hosta 'Daybreak' that looks a bit like a large version of Hosta 'Paradise Power'. In our growing areas this has been an excellent growing plant that holds up very well through the season and has attracted much attention over the years. It has subtle coloring in the shade but will brighten when planted in some sunlight and is fairly sun tolerant.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Rich, moist, well-drained soil.

Zones: 2 - 8
