Hosta 'Tidewater'

(Zilis 2003)

Clump Size: (L) 40" x 18"

Leaf Size: 12" x 6" -- Vein Pairs: 11 - 13

Description: Thick, elongated leaves have deep veins and can be very blue-green in spring turning dark green in summer. It develops into a very attractive cascading mound of foliage.

Blooms: Medium lavender flowers bloom in late summer.

Comments: Hosta 'Tidewater' is a hybrid of Hosta kikutii leuconata x Hosta 'Elegans'. With some bright light in spring it can develop an intense blue color. Unfortunately the blue color doesn't last all that long, so for the most part this is a long-leaf, green hosta, but it does have great architectural form.

Light: Light sun to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Elegans

Zones: 2 - 8
