Hosta 'Undulata Univittata'

(Bailey 1930)

Clump Size: (M) 28" x 14"

Leaf Size: 6" x 3" -- Vein Pairs: 8

Description: Leaves are wavy and twisted, oval and pointed, white centered with a two-tone medium to light green margin. It is a very fast grower which can be divided often for use along borders or in mass plantings.

Blooms: Light lavender flowers bloom sparsely in early summer on tall, bare scapes.

Comments: This is the classic white and green hosta found in many landscapes around the country. The leaves can turn solid green when grown in containers or in extreme heat so it grows and colors best in cool locations in Northern gardens and is not recommended for the South. It is also known as Hosta 'Undulata Mediopicta' and Hosta 'Undulata Variegata' but those are invalid names.

Light: Part shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

Related Plants: Erromena, Undulata Albomarginata, Undulata

Zones: 2 - 8
